Duane Stanford writes about beverages, food and tobacco for Bloomberg News, where he has covered consumer products companies for more than seven years. His work appears on Bloomberg Business and in Businessweek magazine. Duane is a regular contributor to Bloomberg Television and Radio, and he appears on regional and business programs including NPR's Marketplace. Most recently, Duane has taken on added duties for Bloomberg Politics, helping out with the 2016 Presidential race and last year's Georgia senate race. He also has covered the battle between Herbalife and hedge fund activist Bill Ackman over whether the company is an illegal pyramid scheme.
Prior to Bloomberg, Duane spent 15 years with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. For most of that time, he covered government and politics, including the governor's office, the state Department of Transportation and Georgia consumer affairs. Duane wrote long and short features, investigative pieces and breaking news. In 2006, Duane moved to the newspaper's business desk to cover Coca-Cola and the soft drink industry.
Duane lives in Atlanta with his wife and two children. When not chasing news, he enjoys competitive tennis and civic service.
