President Donald Trump’s new tariffs are set to hit some of the world’s poorest nations the hardest, putting their labor-intensive export industries at risk and diminishing one of the US’s biggest economic advantages over rival China. Countries like Cambodia, which has been slapped with Asia’s highest tariff rate, garment manufacturing giant Bangladesh, Laos, Lesotho and Myanmar had already been struggling after Trump earlier this year cut back aid to the world's least developed countries. The new tariffs also hit many emerging nations like India and Vietnam, which had hoped to benefit as alternative manufacturing hubs to China. Join Bloomberg's Nasreen Seria, Philip Heijmans, Shruti Srivastava, James Mayger to discuss the China +1 strategy in a Live Q&A on Friday, April 4 at 4:30p.m. HKT/ 2:00p.m. IST.
