India boosters were a bit perplexed by the World Economic Outlook released by the International Monetary Fund this month. It showed the South Asian powerhouse slipping from 5th to 6th place in gross domestic product rankings. It fell behind the UK when many analysts expected it to overtake Japan, which holds down 4th after the US, China and Germany.
