Hungary Is Making the Right Noises About Joining the Euro
Peter Magyar: Making nice.
Photographer: Akos Stiller/BloombergNewly elected Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar just said the quiet bit out loud: It’s time to properly come into the European Union fold and, eventually, adopt the euro.
The parliamentary super-majority his Tisza party won in Sunday’s election is the optimal result to ensure a reset for Hungary and the European Union. Relations between Budapest and Brussels were in the deep freeze after 16 years of Viktor Orban’s rule. His successor is moving fast to get the country back on the right track. It’s common sense. Follow the money and it’s hanging on a Brussels’ string.
