War Isn't Hell for This White House — It's a Meme

Absent a noble cause, or even a clear rationale, for its war with Iran, the Trump White House has turned to internet slop to sell its unpopular and costly “excursion.” Official administration social media accounts have marshaled fictional heroes, movie clips and video game footage, spliced with real war footage, to create what are essentially hype videos for a war that has already cost billions of dollars and killed over a thousand people, including 13 US troops.
One video, titled “JUSTICE THE AMERICAN WAY” — a Superman reference — ends with the phrase, “Flawless Victory,” from the video game Mortal Kombat. The video racked up over 60 million views in a week.
