Reputation is everything in this business.

For years, Goldman had strongly defended its chief legal officer and trusted advisor to Chief Executive Officer David Solomon, right up until she handed in her resignation, according to the New York Times. And Ruemmler for her part maintained that she and Epstein had only a professional relationship centered on her clients, had no knowledge of ongoing criminal conduct and regretted ever knowing him. Her personal spokesperson told MS NOW this week that Ruemmler “has done nothing wrong and has nothing to hide.”

The connection between Ruemmler and Epstein has been publicly known since at least 2023, when The Wall Street Journal outed her as among the “prominent names” who appeared on Epstein’s private calendar. Between 2014 and 2019, while serving as a criminal defense attorney at Latham & Watkins and before joining Goldman, the two exchanged more than 11,000 emails.
