FedEx Investors Should Cheer Its Retreat From Online Shopping

FedEx is focusing on higher-value packages.

FedEx Corp. Chief Executive Officer Raj Subramaniam wants everyone to know that four years into a whirlwind transformation to cut costs, shed its trucking business and combine delivery services, the company now operates a global industrial network.

That was the theme of FedEx’s investor day on Thursday as the company prepares to spin off its trucking unit, which has a higher profit margin than the overall company, and focuses on bolstering margins with cost savings and a focus on higher-value packages.
