In the first debate between Republican Jack Ciattarelli and Democrat Mikie Sherrill in New Jersey's governor's race, Ciattarelli, a former state representative who lost to Phil Murphy in the 2021 gubernatorial election, reintroduced himself as “a hands-on CEO governor who is from New Jersey that knows exactly what needs to be done and is willing to do it.”

“Look where we are today,” said the 63-year-old certified public accountant and former owner of a medical publishing company in a statement intended to discredit New Jersey's leadership under Murphy since 2018.
