South Korea Saved Its Baseball Season But It Looks Very Different

Empty stadiums, masked cheerleaders, and celebratory foot taps are how the game is played today.

South Korea controlled the Covid-19 outbreak faster and better than most countries, helping to preserve the country's much cherished rite of spring. So the Korea Baseball Organization's ten teams are winning sports-starved spectators on ESPN for the first time.

But big league baseball looks different in 2020. Players have their temperatures checked twice a day. They’re urged to stay indoors after the game. Cheering and partying fans have disappeared from the stands. For now, these precautions appear to be working to keep people safe and healthy.
