European markets breathed a sigh of relief today on news of a conditional two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran, with stocks and European bonds rallying and oil dropping below $100 a barrel.
While the relief rally gives some reprieve to markets, trust in the US might take longer to repair. Trump’s brinkmanship and threat to wipe out a civilization has frayed the already shaky transatlantic alliance.
