Artificial intelligence may or may not be displacing workers, but there’s no question it is altering work. Take the new features Google rolled out this week for its Workspace products like Sheets, which can now build spreadsheets autonomously. Using column headers to infer what to fetch from Gmail, Drive and the web, it can populate cells in the requested format within minutes, collapsing what might be a multi-hour task into the time it takes to type a couple of prompts.
