Nordic multinationals across the Middle East are rethinking their strategies as the Iranian conflict upends global supply chains. Maersk was forced to suspend cargo bookings for routes linking Asia to the Middle East — and services connecting that region and Europe — as movement in the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial transport lane for world trade, came to a standstill. The Danish container-shipping giant had already halted transits at most ports across the Persian Gulf and imposed an emergency freight increase on shipments in several countries in the region.
