President Donald Trump boasted that the Chinese leader Xi Jinping had agreed to buy “tremendous” amounts of American soybeans as part of the tariff detente between the two economic superpowers reached at a summit in South Korea. Yet for all the talk, the deal made clear that China no longer needs much of the commodity.
