Linda Yaccarino’s roller-coaster ride as CEO of Elon Musk’s social-media platform X ended this week when she resigned after two tumultuous years. The longtime advertising executive, nicknamed the “Velvet Hammer,” was hired to mend ties with marketers and create brand-friendly content — but instead watched helplessly as Musk jettisoned the Twitter brand name, told advertisers who were unhappy with his rants to “go f--- yourself,” and sued an advertising group, with members including Procter & Gamble Co. and Unilever Plc, for organizing a boycott of the platform.
