Israel and Iran traded deadly fire for a fourth consecutive day, but the recent surge in oil prices reversed course on a report that Tehran wants to restart nuclear negotiations. Iran would “like to talk,” Donald Trump remarked around the same time that Iran threatened to deliver a “major blow” to Israel. Military operations against Iran will continue regardless of the progress of any potential negotiations involving the US, an Israeli minister told Bloomberg. Markets took it all in stride: The S&P 500 rose almost 1% as fears of a wider conflict receded.
