Donald Trump and Xi Jinping talked and agreed to talk some more. The US president said he and Xi cleared up disputes on rare-earths exports during a call and that he accepted China’s invitation to visit. Beijing said it’s complied with tariff truce and that Trump welcomed Chinese students to study in the US. For now, the tensions are still showing up in data: The US trade deficit shrank 55.5% in April month-over-month on the largest-ever plunge in imports, as companies stopped massive front-loading of goods.
