Donald Trump is leaning into his oldest calling card, immigration, by reviving one of the most controversial measures from his first term. The US president signed a ban on individuals from 12 countries entering the country, a measure that covers countries including Afghanistan, Iran, Myanmar and Yemen. Trump tied the measure to a terror attack in Colorado, in which the suspect was from Egypt — a country that’s not on the list.

In his flurry of late-night activity, the president also signed a separate proclamation suspending the visas of foreign students seeking to participate in exchange programs at Harvard, accusing the university of failing to respond to violations of conduct on campus. The latest move in Trump’s feud with Harvard comes after his administration declared that Columbia University is in violation of anti-discrimination laws.
