Semiconductor company ASML plunged the most in 26 years after it booked only about half the orders analysts expected from chipmakers, a startling slowdown for one of the bellwethers of the industry. The weak results were amplified by the company mistakenly releasing its earnings report a day early. The news triggered a broad selloff in chip-related stocks, including Nvidia, and sent the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index tumbling 5.3%.
