Stocks jumped to a fresh peak, with the S&P 500 notching its 46th record close of the year, as investors look ahead to earnings for vindication of their bets that the US will avoid a recession. In the CEO versus analyst showdown, one appears optimistic while the other (you guessed it: analysts) are not so upbeat.
