Amazon Has EV Charging Operators in Its Rear-View Mirror

Charging companies are poised to rank among the world’s top consumers of electricity.

Amazon is the largest corporate purchaser of renewable energy globally, with almost 26 gigawatts of projects in its portfolio that it expects to eventually be capable of producing 56,881 gigawatt-hours of green electrons a year.

In the next 10 years or so, Amazon will have plenty of competition for the renewable energy crown. Google and Meta may be in the mix, as will electric-vehicle charging operators — some of which aren’t exactly household names.
