Russian forces continued their attacks on military and civilian forces in Ukraine, with the fighting getting close to the capital, Kyiv. The country’s president said Ukraine continued to resist with its military stopping Russia achieving its goals in the first day of the assault. The U.S. and Europe announced new sanctions yesterday against Russia. The Kremlin said it would retaliate. There was some sign of a possible way out of the war this morning when Russia said a Ukrainian offer of neutrality was a move “toward positive.”
