Britain’s effort to renationalize its rail network is fueling concerns about underinvestment

Most mornings, Glenn Keilloh makes the 20-minute train commute from Coventry to Birmingham for his job as a building surveyor. All too often, there aren’t enough carriages so he’s left standing, squeezed in with other exasperated passengers. Don’t get him started on ticket prices.

“Fares have been going up materially for the past few years, but we’re not seeing a better service,” the 47-year-old said.
