Meet the Chefs Creating Incredible, Innovative Caribbean Food in London
They’re on a mission to bring recognition — and a Michelin star — to their cuisine.
“Caribbean food hasn’t had its glow-up,” chef Dominic Taylor says to me. We’re discussing the restaurant scene in London, and beyond that, in Britain. “We need to take home a Michelin star.”
Taylor is a big name in the UK, thanks to his 2023 win on Channel 4’s hit show Five Star Kitchen. He’s also one of the nation’s most high-profile Caribbean chefs, and garnered a huge amount of attention at his residency at the swanky Palm Court at the Langham hotel. His stint there was so popular that the six-month residency was extended to 10 months, ending in April 2024.
