If college were a stock, many Americans would say it’s overpriced. The cost has continued to soar, buoyed by prestige and the illusion of exclusivity.
“Every family at every income level feels that it is just not a good value,” said Mandee Heller Adler, the president and founder of International College Counselors. “I work with a lot of very wealthy families, and even my families that are billionaires, not a single one of them has ever said to me, ‘Wow, this seems like a good price.’”
