Nigel Farage was accused by the governing Labour Party and opposition Conservatives of breaking parliamentary rules after the leader of the poll-leading Reform UK acknowledged receiving a large private donation from the crypto investor Christopher Harborne.

Farage told the Daily Telegraph newspaper in an interview published Wednesday that Harborne — who in the past year has donated some £12 million to Reform — had made the gift to pay for his personal security at a time before announcing he would stand for office in the 2024 general election. The Guardian and Telegraph reported the sum as being £5 million.
