New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani will overhaul a board charged with soliciting donations from the city’s wealthy philanthropists, naming new members with few ties to the private sector in a shift from prior administrations.

The Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City is a city-affiliated not-for-profit organization that raises private funds to advance City Hall’s top causes. Mamdani’s current chief of staff Elle Bisgaard-Church will serve as chair, while other new members include a Bronx high school teacher and a former dockworker. The mayor is expected to announce the new names at a press conference on Thursday.
