Madagascar Probing $919 Million of Embezzled Public Funds

Madagascar’s anti-corruption authorities are probing major irregularities in the management of public resources estimated at 3,811 billion ariary ($919 million), the presidency said.

The embezzlement occurred over five years, an audit of 15 ministries and state agencies showed, and was in major infrastructure projects, including an urban train and cable car transport system, according to the presidential communication director Harry Laurent Rahajason.
