South Korean President Lee Jae Myung is likely to join a European-led summit convened to discuss securing shipping through the Strait of Hormuz ahead of his upcoming trip to India and Vietnam, where he’ll seek to strengthen economic and security ties.

President Lee is “positively considering” his virtual participation in the April 17 summit to be hosted by France and the UK, a senior Blue House official said, adding that Lee may prepare a message that would touch on energy supply chains, the nation’s stance on the Middle East crisis and the need for international coordination to ensure freedom of navigation.
