Greenland Opens New Airport to Grow Tourism Amid Trump Pressure
Greenland is opening an international airport in its fourth-largest town, marking a push to boost tourism and investment as US President Donald Trump continues pressing for greater control of the Arctic territory.
The airport in Qaqortoq in the island’s south was approved late Wednesday after a last-minute test flight paved the way for it to formally open on Thursday, the Danish Civil Aviation and Railway Authority said on its website.
