ECB’s Schnabel Says It’s Good Time to Discuss Euro Bonds Again

European Central Bank Executive Board member Isabel Schnabel said now is a “good time” to again debate joint European Union borrowing.

The German policymaker told a panel event in Washington that it’s “entirely logical” for the EU to finance European public goods by issuing common debt, but officials should first reinforce the bloc’s economic and military power.
