Spirit Energy Ltd. plans to restructure its business and cut jobs as its main shareholder, Centrica Plc, scales back natural gas production in the aging North Sea basin.

Spirit has begun a consultation with personnel on reorganizing the business, the company said in a statement. The move follows Centrica— which owns 69% of the firm — agreeing in December to sell some of its UK gas assets, with the deal expected to close in the second half of the year.
