Japan’s Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama warned that she was prepared to take bold action to support the yen following discussions with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, as the currency continues to hover near the danger zone for intervention.

“We had a thorough discussion on currencies,” Katayama told reporters Wednesday in Washington after bilateral talks with her US counterpart. “We also agreed to maintain even closer communication than before.”
