Greek Government to Reappoint Stournaras as Central Bank Chief
The Greek government proposed the renewal of the term of Yannis Stournaras at the helm of the Bank of Greece, in an appointment that would make him one of the longest-serving governors in the euro area.
“The government, taking into account the independence and the statute of the Bank of Greece is proposing the renewal of the term of the current governor, Yannis Stournaras,” according to a written statement from government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis following a meeting between the Greek premier and the central bank chief.
