French police were denied access to President Emmanuel Macron’s official residence as part of a corruption investigation into the organization of state ceremonies posthumously honoring citizens.

Macron’s office confirmed the attempt by police on Tuesday morning and said in a statement that it told investigators that documents belonging to staff at the Elysée Palace would still be provided upon request.
