Mayor of Mexico’s Touristic Silver Town Rescued After Kidnapping

The mayor of the “silver capital” of Mexico, Taxco de Alarcón, was located by Mexican security forces along with his father after the two went missing.

Mayor Juan Andrés Vega Carranza had gone looking for his father Juan Vega Arredondo, the director of a local hospital, after the father’s car was found abandoned on Saturday, according to local media reports. The historic silver-mining town is a major getaway spot for Mexican tourists, who roam its colonial streets and flock to its endless jewelry sellers.
