ActBlue raised $568 million for Democratic candidates and causes in the first quarter, a record haul that will be greeted with relief in a party seen as trailing Republicans in fundraising ahead of the November midterm elections.

The total is the biggest for a first quarter, the organization said Tuesday on its website. It tops presidential cycles which typically see more robust fundraising than midterms. The total, which includes money raised for federal, state and local candidates as well Democratic and progressive political and advocacy groups, shows the enthusiasm of the party’s grassroots donors as the midterm elections near.
