Taiwan Leader to Visit Eswatini in First Foreign Trip Since 2024
Taiwan’s President Lai Ching-te plans to visit the island’s last remaining diplomatic ally in Africa, in his first trip abroad since December 2024.
Lai will visit Eswatini during April 22-26, a spokesperson for Taiwan’s presidential office, Kuo Ya-hui, said at a briefing Monday. The trip will mark the 40th anniversary of King Mswati III’s coronation and his birthday, according to Kuo, who added that Lai will travel via a direct flight without stopovers elsewhere.
