Benin’s sole opposition presidential candidate has conceded defeat, acknowledging early results show a clear lead for Finance Minister Romuald Wadagni.

Paul Hounkpé, who stood on the ticket of the Cauris Forces for an Emerging Benin, congratulated Wadagni in a statement verified by two members of his party.
