Lula Picks New Minister to Push Policy Agenda for Reelection
Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has chosen a new minister to negotiate with Congress on the agenda he is betting on to gain momentum in the polls ahead of the October election.
Lula selected Congressman Jose Guimaraes, his current government leader in the lower house, to take over as Minister of Institutional Relations. He replaces Gleisi Hoffmann, who left the post in early April to run for a seat in the Senate.
