Cameroon Senate Ex-President Dies A Month After He Was Replaced

Marcel Niat Njifenji, Cameroon’s pioneer senate president who ruled the institution for 13 years, has died one month after he was replaced, Abdoulaye Aboubakary, the new Senate leader said in an emailed statement.

Njifenji, 91, who led the upper chamber from 2013 to 2026, died in a hospital after a protracted illness.
