Brazil’s Lula Tied With Main Competitors, Datafolha Poll Shows
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is tied with his right-wing and center-right opponents in theoretical match-ups six months ahead of October’s election, according to a Datafolha poll released Saturday.
The leftist leader would receive 45% of the vote in a runoff, trailing Senator Flavio Bolsonaro for the first time. Bolsonaro, who’s running with the backing of his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro, has 46% support, the poll showed. The elder Bolsanaro was sentenced to 27 years in prison for plotting a coup to remain in power.
