Kazakhstan will hold parliamentary elections in August, after a new constitution that voters backed in a nationwide referendum comes into force.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced the ballot at a meeting on Friday, according to a statement from his press service on Telegram. The parliamentary elections will mark the beginning of a large-scale “restructuring” of the nation’s political system, he said.
