UK Gives £380 Million Subsidy to Tata’s Jaguar Battery Factory

The British government confirmed £380 million ($510 million) of support for the new Tata Group battery factory in southwest England that will provide for the manufacturer’s Jaguar Land Rover vehicles in a project that will be one of the largest of its kind in Europe.

The site — which is under construction in Somerset, southwest England — will sustain 4,200 jobs and thousands more in the supply chain, the Department for Business and Trade said on Thursday in an e-mailed statement. While the previous Conservative administration backed the project in 2023, it didn’t say how much support was being provided.
