National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett said Thursday the 1977 International Emergency Economic Powers Act could be used because the US is “in a state of conflict.” Trump has threatened to apply 50% duties on goods from countries supplying Iran with weaponry. His power to do so was immediately called into question, given the court’s decision.
