TCS Tops Profit Estimates After Cost Cuts to Cope With IT Slump
Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.’s quarterly earnings topped analysts’ estimates after the information technology provider curbed costs to cope with slowing demand in an era of geopolitical tensions.
Net income advanced 12% to 137.2 billion rupees ($1.5 billion) for the three months through March, Asia’s biggest outsourcer said in a statement Thursday. Analysts estimated 135.51 billion rupees on average. Sales rose 9.6% to 707 billion rupees, helped by a decline by the Indian currency versus the dollar and the euro.
