First lady Melania Trump denied ties to the late, disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, calling online claims about a supposed relationship “false smears” and threatening retaliation against those making them.

The first lady delivered the comments Thursday during a rare on-camera statement at the White House, in which she said she was responding to “numerous fake images and statements about Epstein and me” on social media, without referring to specific examples.
