Japan Bonds Draw Largest Foreign Inflow in a Year Last Week

Overseas investors bought the biggest amount of Japanese bonds in a year last week after large redemptions reduced their holdings.

Global funds bought a net ¥2.42 trillion ($15.3 billion) of the securities last week, the most since April 2025, after selling a similar amount the week before, preliminary Ministry of Finance data showed on Thursday. Quarter-end redemptions of Japanese government bonds typically surge, with more than ¥20 trillion redeemed on March 20.
