US and Iran have confirmed participation for peace talks in Islamabad on Friday as global efforts mount for a permanent agreement to end the war in the Middle East after a two week ceasefire, according to Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The goal is durable and long-lasting peace after the ceasefire, Sharif said in a televised address. Earlier, Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian “expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s efforts” in a phone call with Sharif, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.
