Japan’s Takaichi Urges Lasting Peace in Call With Iran President
Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi called for a lasting peace agreement during talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian after Washington and Tehran agreed a two-week ceasefire just before a US deadline.
In Wednesday’s 25-minute phone call, Takaichi said she discussed with Pezeshkian the ceasefire agreement and the situation surrounding the Hormuz Strait, a key waterway through which a large portion of the world’s oil supplies are transported.
