The United Arab Emirates has called for a “sustained approach” to address Iran’s full range of threats, including its nuclear capabilities and ballistic missiles, as a truce with the Islamic Republic appears precarious.

The oil-rich Gulf country is “closely following” President Donald Trump’s announcement on Tuesday of a two-week ceasefire, and “seeking further clarification on the agreement’s provisions to ensure Iran’s full commitment to an immediate cessation of all hostilities in the region and the complete and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz,” the UAE’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
